“Gotham needs more people who are willing to fight for her,” Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) says as he dons a black mask and long jacket that serve as his first version of the Batsuit.

“There is a time for masks, and there is a time for Bruce Wayne,” says Alfred (Sean Pertwee), trying to dissuade Bruce from pursuing his alter ego, but the moment of crime-fighting bliss from last season’s finale seems to have left its mark.

“I feel more alive than I’ve even felt before,” he says.

The trailer also offers a frightening glimpse of the Scarecrow (Charlie Tahan).

Fox is moving Gotham to Thursday nights this fall, and season four premieres September 21.
