AMC’s six-episode Fear the Walking Dead broke cable ratings records this fall with its debut and is set to close out its first season Oct. 4. But the fans don’t want to let it go so soon, so AMC is bringing the Fear the Walking Dead world online in a companion series to the companion series.

Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 will debut on Sunday, Oct. 4, just as the on-air series ends, as a 16-part Web series on AMC.com.

The Web series follows the same outbreak as featured in the show, but instead of in Los Angeles, the Web series focuses on the passengers of an airplane after they find an infected fellow passenger. Flight 462 is written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic, and directed by Fear the Walking Dead’s director of photography Michael McDonough.

Flight 462 is a great extension of the world of Fear and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilization,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dave Erickson and David Wiener on another piece of original content. Watching how they’ll bring one of these new characters to the second season of Fear will be really exciting for viewers to follow.”

Each episode is less than 60 seconds and will air each week on AMC.com and as promos during episodes of The Walking Dead. New episodes will be featured on the network’s website, with help from some on-air promotion during The Walking Dead’s sixth season debut on Oct. 11 as well.

One of the characters from Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 will also live on in the second season of Fear the Walking Dead, returning next season.
