Zuckerberg & Co. are hoping they’ve hit on a way for your boss to encourage you to use Facebook on the job.

A new “Facebook at Work” platform that many are dubbing a LinkedIn-killer is set to debut in January 2015, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Facebook apparently sees ways to improve on the corporate social networking experience, especially since users aren’t universally thrilled with what they’re getting from LinkedIn.

Rumors of the new platform first circulated last week, and The Independent is reporting that the site is being developed out of Facebook’s London offices.

Users would be able to chat, work collaboratively, and share documents.

Companies would have to give their okay for users to sign up, and a user’s personal and business profiles would be separate.

Brief Take: Although the service would initially be ad-free, Facebook at Work could be the ideal place for marketing content aimed at a professional audience.
