After receiving rave ratings in 2014 as 25 million viewers tuned in when all 552 episodes of The Simpsons aired over 12 days during the summer, FXX has decided it’s time for another go, and plans to one-up itself.
In round two of its Every. Simpsons. Ever. marathon, this time network will run 600 episodes in chronological order over the course of 13 days starting, November 24—Thanksgiving day—at 12 p.m.
Time in front of the tube breaks down to 300 hours of 27 seasons, making it the longest running marathon in TV history, according to FXX.
“The first Every. Simpsons. Ever. marathon was truly so special and landmark in its cultural relevance and impact,” FX Networks President and COO Chuck Saftler said in a statement. “The unprecedented feat of reaching 600 episodes deserves something of that caliber to mark it and celebrate it. Doing this is an act of true fandom, honoring Jim Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, all the writers, artists, directors, people behind the scenes and the ridiculously talented voice actors who have brought this series to life and kept it at the pinnacle of artistic excellence these past 27-plus seasons.”
On that note, Fox will also debut the season 28 premiere on Sunday, September 25 at 8 p.m.
In the episode, when Springfield is burned to the ground, the Simpsons beg Mr. Burns to fund its rebuilding. Burns agrees—with one condition: he gets to put on a variety show at the Springfield Bowl, on the all-new “Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus.”
