Four real-life couples explore the challenges of monogamy in the second half of the third season of Showtime’s Couples Therapy, debuting Friday, April 28.

The series features renowned psychologist and psychoanalyst Dr. Orna Guralnik as she works with people in actual therapy sessions. These nine new episodes feature two ex-Mormons who are struggling with betrayals; a queer couple in which one wants to pursue polygamy and the other does not; a sexually-frustrated husband who is making his wife increasingly insecure; and a man who refuses to own how damaging his infidelities have been to his relationship.

“The ways that people struggle with monogamy are not 100% resolvable,” Dr. Guralnik says in the above trailer.

“How do you conduct therapy when people are not committed to truth?” she wonders.

By the end, Guralnik tells one couple: “I’m not the right therapist for you guys.”

Couples Therapy is from Sundance Award-winning filmmakers Josh Kriegman, Elyse Steinberg and Eli Despres, who serve as executive producers along with Vinnie Malhotra. Matt Parker and Bennett Elliott are producers for the second installment of season three, with Elliott and Joshua Altman serving as directors. The series is produced by Edgeline Films for Showtime.
