“SportsCenter’s” Kenny Mayne heads up a “security briefing” in a new series of spots from ESPN CreativeWorks and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which has to let the old security team in on the all-out intensity of the new one.
In the first spot, above, Mayne explains that the company has brought in some “grade-A superheroes” to keep an eye on the new high-tech “SportsCenter” set.
Another promo, “Breakout,” explains why they had to bring in a more advanced security team - “not that we don’t trust you guys,” Mayne told the existing security team. “Look at these guys. Just last week they broke out of a maximum security Nova Corps lockup. Whatever that is.”
“The Team” introduces the Guardians: an interstellar outlaw, a living weapon, an “inked-up” warrior, a wise-cracking raccoon and “Groot. He’ll grow on ya. Literally, he’s a tree.”
This isn’t the first time ESPN has partnered with Marvel. “SportsCenter” anchors have also starred alongside Captain America for the release of “Winter Soldier” this spring:
