The Super Bowl is taking over New York - especially now, as ESPN plans to merge Super Bowl coverage this week with an epic hashtag battle, powered in part by Verizon.
Its #WhosGonnaWin campaign will help to determine the winner of a live Twitter vote - the Seahawks or the Broncos. The team with the most fan tweets on Friday, Jan. 31 will have its team colors displayed on the Empire State Building, revealed live during “SportsCenter.”
Throughout the week, Verizon is asking additional questions like “Which team will own the running game?” and “Which team has the best fans?” of its 1 million @VerizonWireless followers. ESPN’s brands are promoting the contest on their respective Twitter handles, including @SportsCenter, @ESPNNFL and @ESPNMondayNight, as they will continue to do during Friday’s programming. The results will show up as colored lights on the building itself, but will also be live-streamed by Verizon at WhosGonnaWin.com.
The contest will continue throughout the game Sunday, with the lights changing colors based on how the game progresses, and the winning team getting a special light show after the game ends.
