EA Sports said today it has signed a deal with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association that extends and enhances their existing licensing agreement through Dec. 31, 2022. EA Sports released its first FIFA-branded video game in 1993. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

EA Sports said that 65 million people per week play their FIFA video games. EA Sports is planning a multi-media marketing campaign to support the release of “FIFA 14,” scheduled for late September, which would build to the 2014 FIFA World Cup (June-July 2014) in Brazil.

According to Andrew Wilson, executive vice president and head of EA Sports, “Our franchise has become the benchmark for quality and innovation in the sports video game genre, and we look forward to many more years of connecting with consumers around the world with our games carrying the prestigious FIFA name.”
