Nearly nine million viewers tuned into A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” Christmas Special on Wednesday, December 11, a 37% jump from the program’s holiday special last year.

At 10 p.m., the special also averaged 4.6 million viewers among adults 25-54, a 21% improvement over last year, and 4.5 million viewers among adult 18-49, a 15% gain from 2012, according to Nielsen’s fast national ratings.

Season five of “Duck Dynasty,” which is cable’s top unscripted series, will premiere on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. In August, “Duck Dynasty’“s fourth season premiered to nearly 12 million viewers, making it the top unscripted series telecast in cable history and kicking off the series’ best season yet.
