Drew Barrymore, star of her own talk show, is Pluto TV’s new spokesperson, starring in a global campaign that debuted in the U.S. and Canada on Friday, December 16 and will come online in multiple international markets early next year.
The spots are a multiplatform effort by Paramount, which owns both CBS Media Ventures, producer and distributor of Barrymore’s daytime talk show, and free streaming service Pluto TV. Barrymore introduced the campaign on The Drew Barrymore Show on Thursday, December 15. After revealing the campaign, Barrymore gave everyone in the live studio audience a free LG 50” smart television.
The campaign highlights the free streamer’s new tagline – “Stream Now, Pay Never” – and features Barrymore in three spots – one on drama, one on action and a third on what Barrymore is probably most known for, romance and romcoms.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our new ‘Stream Now. Pay Never’ campaign [that] perfectly encapsulates Pluto TV’s core value proposition to audiences everywhere,” said Tom Ryan, CEO of Paramount Streaming and co-founder of Pluto TV, in a statement. “No one is better suited to represent the playful and spirited vibe of Pluto TV than Drew Barrymore. A global icon with enormous talent and heart to match, Drew captures the essence of Pluto TV with her wit and charm in this new campaign.”
Barrymore’s talk show has had its own dedicated channel on Pluto TV, Best of The Drew Barrymore Show, since last January.
“Pluto TV is at the forefront of this transformational moment in media and how people consume it and it’s so exciting to be a part of it,” said Barrymore, also in a statement. “The fact that the service is completely free, with no strings attached really drew me to be a part of this campaign.”
“Why am I falling? Will I live or die? It’s called drama,” Barrymore says in the below spot.
Falling
“Why am I running down a crowded city street pushing people out of the way? It’s called a chase scene and it adds a jolt of excitement to your favorite crime shows.”
Street Chase
“Why am I dropping things adorably? It’s called a meet-cute,” she says in the third and final spot, which finds her dressed head to toe in her signature shade of yellow.
Romcom
The trio of spots are shot by David Shane of O Positive Films. The creative campaign was developed by Paramount Streaming in partnership with Known and O Positive Films.
