On the same day it was announced that Rich Ross was leaving his post atop Shine America, he revealed his next destination: the president’s office at Discovery Channel.
Ross will join Discovery in January, working out of the company’s Los Angeles offices. As president of the channel, he’ll be responsible for marketing, brand strategy, development, production, and day-to-day operations.
Shine America’s merger with Core Media and Endemol will bring a new leadership team atop the new company, which will be part of 21st Century Fox.
Sophie Turner Laing—once the BSkyB boss—will serve as CEO of the new entity, while Endemol’s Tim Hincks will be president.
At Discovery, interim president Marjorie Kaplan will continue until Ross’ arrival.
Ross will report to Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav.
