Amazon debuted the first trailer for The Tick, a superhero-spoof comedy that focuses on nerdy sidekick accountant Arthur Everest as much as the big, blue, bulletproof savior.

According to Amazon: “In a world where heroes and villains have existed for decades, a mild-mannered accountant named Arthur (Griffin Newman) has his life turned upside down when he runs into a mysterious blue superhero, The Tick (Peter Serafinowicz) who insists that Arthur become the brains to his brawn in a crime-fighting duo.”

The original comic book as well as the ‘90s animated series poked fun at superhero stories, and Amazon’s version will do the same with slapstick humor and goofy lines as they embark on, as The Tick puts it, “an epic tale rife with destiny, adventure, bloodlust and good against evil.”

The series is produced by creator Ben Edlund, Barry Josephson (Bones), and David Fury (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The Tick also stars Valorie Curry, Jackie Earle Haley, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines, Scott Speiser, and Michael Cerveris.

The 12-episode first season will be split into two parts, with part one premiering August 25, and part two slated for early 2018.
