Giancarlo Esposito—who narrated the first two seasons of Netflix’s Dear White People before the season two finale reveal of his involvement in a black secret society at the show’s Winchester College—had a special message for viewers.
“Now that I have your attention, this message is being delivered to you on behalf of the Order of X,” he says in the grainy video. “I come with a message of truth. To clarify the false information that’s being disseminated around the world today: Dear White People will be returning to Netflix for a season three. We’ll meet you there.”
From creator, executive producer, director, writer and co-showrunner Justin Simien,
From creator Justin Simien, Dear White People is set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions are on the rise. It follows a group of students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and activism in the millennial age, using irony, self-deprecation, laughter and brutal honesty to hold up a mirror to the issues plaguing society today.
The series stars Logan Browning (Sam), Brandon P. Bell (Troy), Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson. Yvette Lee Bowser serves as co-showrunner and executive producer, while Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev executive produce.
Dear White People will return in 2019.
