In a video-game cross promotion, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake, star of his own two-game series, becomes the latest survivor in Behavior Interactive’s Dead by Daylight.

In the eponymous Alan Wake games, Wake is a writer who gets caught in a world of horror of his own creation. In Dead by Daylight, he has to survive after wandering into the game’s ubiquitous fog.

Dead by Daylight first launched on PC in 2016, climbing to 12 million players by 2019 after releases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Dead by Daylight also is playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and on mobile platforms, which has helped it grow by an additional 10 million players over the past four years. Across various chapters, the game pairs iconic fictional survivors – such as Alien’s Ellen Ripley – with equally iconic fictional killers, such as Child’s Play’s Chucky.

“We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can’t wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog,” said Sam Lake, creative director of Remedy Entertainment, in a release.

Alan Wake’s likeness is based on actor Ilkka Villi, who also serves as Wake’s model in the Remedy games. Matthew Porretta reprises his voice-acting of the character for the Behavior Interactive game. Porretta also recorded material for marketing assets, including the launch trailer, CGI trailer and the spotlight trailer.

The Alan Wake chapter of Dead by Daylight goes live January 30.
