Netflix unveiled a spooky trailer for David Fincher’s original series Mindhunter.
The 1-minute clip begins with an ominous-sounding voiceover narration: “Imagine what it takes to bludgeon someone to death, the lust for control, the feeling of arousal, the decision to humiliate a corpse. How could you possibly get that from an ordinary police report.”
The upcoming series is set in 1979 and stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as two FBI agents who interview incarcerated serial killers in order to solve new cases.
It was adapted from the book “Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” by Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas, which chronicled Douglas’ personal experiences as a profiler for the FBI, where he specialized in investigating rapists and serial killers.
“We can’t like everything we do,” Groff says in the teaser. “We’re talking to serial killers. You want truffles? You gotta get in the dirt with the pigs.”
The series is Fincher’s second for Netflix following House of Cards. Fincher and Charlize Theron are executive producers.
Mindhunter is set to premiere this October on Netflix.
