Two Danish companies took home the top honors at PromaxBDA Europe 2018 as executives gathered for the two-day conference in Rome to celebrate outstanding achievements in entertainment marketing and design.

Denmark’s publicly owned subscription station TV2 was named European Marketing Team of the Year, while Copenhagen-based &Co. was named Agency of the Year.

Other companies winning multiple gold awards include NBCUniversal International, Paramount Channel CEE, ITV Creative, and BBC Worldwide.

The awards recognize excellence in entertainment marketing created for European audiences — the campaigns, promos, social media strategies, and live experiences that create the most relevant brands in pop culture and build passionate fandom.

An initial round of online judging determined the finalists from more than 1,700 submissions from top broadcasters and agencies in 40 European countries. A jury of industry experts then met in Moscow, Rome, Amsterdam, and London to determine who took home the gold and silver statues in each category.

“As the entertainment industry continues to evolve faster than ever, we are seeing an unprecedented level of innovation and creativity from European media companies,” said Steve Kazanjian, president and CEO of PromaxBDA. “This year’s PromaxBDA Europe Awards winners demonstrate that Europe’s marketers and designers continue to dream up exciting new ways to build passionate audiences for entertainment across every screen.”

In addition, British graphic designer and brand architect Martin Lambie-Nairn received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the competition’s highest honor. In a career spanning three decades, Lambie-Nairn has created such iconic brand identities as Channel 4, the BBC, the Royal Opera House, and O2.

And Josh Wright of Comedy Central UK was awarded the association’s prestigious Best New Talent award, recognizing a producer or marketer with less than two years of experience who is creating outstanding work.

The awards served as the closing celebration of PromaxBDA Europe 2018, the annual summit where Europe’s leading media companies explore the marketing strategies, insights, and innovations fueling success in an evolving entertainment industry. American actor and comedian Jonathan Kite hosted the ceremony, held Tuesday at the Rome Cavalieri hotel.
