Troika has hired Andy Hann as its new creative director, where he will use his more than 30 years of experience in both entertainment media and consumer brands to help drive the agency forward.

Hann previously worked as creative director at ModOP, where he executed and oversaw yearlong social campaigns for brands such as Bud Light, Budweiser, Stella and Hoegaarden. He also worked on branding and marketing initiatives for EA Sports FIFA, CBS Sports/Golf, Nvidia and Hudson Pacific Properties.

“I’ve known and respected Andy throughout his career,” Dan Pappalardo, president of Troika, said in a statement. “Andy has made remarkable contributions to each of the brands he has touched. I’m confident that his rich perspective and experience will allow us to build upon the momentum we’re delivering for our clients today and help achieve Troika’s next chapter of growth in experiential branding and marketing.”

The company recently merged with data-focused M2 nGage Group as it develops new creative ways to take live events to the next level. The company is focusing on increasing engagement through smartphones and local wifi networks at major events in order to enhance shared experiences centered around mobile devices, creating new rituals and driving in-venue purchasing decisions for consumers.

“I have always considered Troika to be the best-of-the-best, so I am excited to bring my experience in show promotion, digital and experiential to the Troika story,” Hann said in a statement. “Troika is currently heading into exciting new areas and marketing platforms, so I’m eager to push the boundaries and see where we can take it.”

Before joining ModOP, Hann worked as an executive creative director at WME/IMG, spearheading activations for Sundance Film Festival, New York Fashion Week, and the Academy Awards as well as securing the Visa account for the agency.

Before that, he served as principal and head of creative at BIGSMACK for over seven years, where he developed campaigns that generated record-breaking ratings for A&E Network and National Geographic. He also helped launch Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network.

Hann made his mark early in his career at E! Entertainment Television, where he reinvented the on-air look and feel of the network, and at ABC as part of the inaugural, in-house marketing team.

When not at work, he’s indulging in his hobby as a street photographer in the eclectic streets of Los Angeles.
