Jersey advertising may be benched temporarily, but NBA teams well still get new revenue streams next season thanks to the league’s approval of ads running on the court and the tops of backboards. Previously, those spaces had been open to team branding only.

Deals for the new spaces could fetch as much as $2 million per year from advertisers. Sold locally, ads would be removed during national broadcasts if corporate branding. Floor ads would be via decals.

Brief Take: Sure it’s not flashy, but NBA ad space that falls into the roaming eye of the TV cameras filming the game gets more air time than almost any other ad space, and this new zone should prove to be a hit.
