A larger headquarters, the acquisition of a soundstage, a bolstered social media team and a new brand strategy mark the 18th anniversary of Los Angeles-based content studio Stun.
The ad agency and commercial production company has moved its more than 100 employees into a 22,000-square-foot custom-designed creative space on two floors at 6420 Wilshire Boulevard near San Vicente, on the cusp on Beverly Hills.
“We love this part of LA – it’s about as centrally located to all of our clients as you can get,” Mark Feldstein and Brad Roth, Stun principals and co-founders, said in a statement.
Stun has also invested in brand strategy and business innovation firm Blackbird, run by former Viacom head of marketing Ross Martin, which will be housed in the space.
Founded in 2000, since 2002 Stun had been located at the SAG/AFTRA building on 5757 Wilshire Boulevard.
“Our new headquarters truly feels like an extension of the Stun brand – it’s a uniquely creative space commensurate with the level of work our talented team produces every day,” the co-founders said. “It really is a great reward to our amazing staff, who have all worked so hard to get us here.”
As it continues to grow, the studio also acquired a 5,000-square-foot soundstage in Culver City that will be used for live-action and key-art productions for the agency’s clients, as well as for producing Stun’s own original digital online series and traditional linear content creation—all projects represented by CAA.
In addition, Stun is building out its social media team with the promotion of Gale Newton to head of digital and social content, and hiring Holly Gray as director, digital and strategic partnerships. Together, they’ll spearhead a 10-person team that provides clients with digital content engagement across all social media platforms.
On the social front, Stun has been recognized for integrating social media influencers within client campaigns and content, such as featuring Megan Nicole in a music video promoting Mattel and Warner Bros’ DC Superhero Girls toys, as well as featuring Hayes Grier and Harley Morenstein in the series Famous Food Truck on Scripps’ Genius Kitchen app. In 2016, the studio was named one of Snapchat’s Global Creative Partners for producing Snap Ads for brands.
Stun’s client list includes extends across television broadcast, cable, and streaming networks, including NBC, TBS, TNT, FX, Bravo, ABC, Hulu, Warner Bros, and Netflix. The agency also works with many top tier brands, such as Virgin America, Dove’s Men + Care, BMW, Mountain Dew, Mattel, and more.
Recent projects include a VR experience at Comic-Con for TBS series People of Earth, producing the 2018 SAG Awards campaign featuring host Kristen Bell, developing a cross-platform marketing campaign for Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards with John Cena and launch campaigns for Freeform’s Sirens, the NFL playoffs and Bravo’s new season of Imposters.
