Cesar Conde has been named to the newly created position of chairman, NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. Conde starts his new job on October 12 and will continue to report to NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke.
Joe Uva, who previously oversaw the group, is transitioning to an advisory role and assisting with the move of NBC Deportes, NBC’s Spanish-language sports operation, to Stamford, Conn., home of NBC Sports.
In his new role, Conde adds NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, which includes oversight of NBC Universe Cable Network, Telemundo Network, Telemundo International, Telemundo Local Stations, Telemundo Digital Media and Emerging Business and NBC Deportes.
“Telemundo is one of the fastest growing parts of our company and an important area of focus for us,” said Burke in a statement. “I am confident that Cesar’s deep knowledge of the business and keen understanding of the changing marketplace make him the right leader to help build on its strong momentum.”
Prior to his promotion, Conde was executive vice president at NBCUniversal, a position in which he has served for two years. Conde came to NBCUniversal from Univision, where he had been president since 2009. He joined Univision in 2003, serving in a variety of senior executive roles.
Conde was the White House Fellow for Secretary of State Colin L. Powell in 2002 and 2003. Before his public service, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Salomon Smith Barney.
He holds a B.A. with honors from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
