Comedy Central is expanding its lineup this fall - but this time it’s not on air, it’s on the disappearing platform Snapchat.
The network will debut new original series throughout the fall on its Snapchat Discover channel, starting with Swag-A-Saurus, which explains the latest slang being used by teens and online (for example, “Bye Felicia” and “Trap Queen”) hosted by James Davis and premiering Sept. 8. The series will also take recommendations from Snapchatters for slang to be covered in future episodes.
Comedians Nikki Glaser, Yassir Lester, Liza Treyger and Michelle Wolf will all have series premiering throughout the next few months.
Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless made the announcement Tuesday, saying that this originals plan was a natural extension of its popular Discover channel.
“Snapchat Discover has been an incredible partner for the Comedy Central brand, and our fans love the platform,” said Ganeless in a statement. “Creating original series specifically for Snapchat is the perfect next step in the evolution of our content.”
Other original series planned to roll out include:
Quickie with Nikki: A weekly show hosted by Nikki Glaser where she talks about issues relating to sex. The Snapchat series will also serve as a promotional tool for her upcoming Comedy Central show, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, which premieres in 2016.
Never Wrong with Yassir Lester: Lester “destroys the news” each week.
Like it with Liza: Trust me I’m Right: Liza Treyger explains what Snapchatters should watch, see, find and buy.
Now Hiring: A sketch show starring Michelle Wolf as “the world’s most inappropriate recruiter.”
