Comedy Central dismantled it’s separate digital and linear divisions Monday, hoping to streamline the company’s internal organization to better reflect the reality of how fans consume their content.
As part of the restructuring, David Bernath, EVP of Programming and Multiplatform Strategy will head up programming across the network, while Walter Levitt will oversee marketing across all platforms as Chief Marketing Officer. Both men will report to Michele Ganeless, the president of the network.
“Our fans don’t use the word ‘digital’ to talk about content, and now, neither do we,” Ganeless said.
In his new role, Bernath will lead strategy across TV, comedycentral.com, VOD, mobile and emerging platforms.
Levitt leads up strategic and creative marketing, as well as their “Fan Engagement Team” responsible for social and digital marketing.
Brief Take: Comedy Central’s move reflects the reality of today’s TV business, and will likely be emulated by other networks.
