CNN Creative Marketing partnered with Los Angeles-based Rev and Baltimore- and Washington, D.C.-based Cerebral Lounge to produce this music-powered promo for new original series The People vs. The Klan.

The docu-series tells the little-known true story of Beulah Mae Donald who lost her son to the Ku Klux Klan. Instead of accepting his tragic lynching, Donald fought for her son, taking down the Alabama Klan in the process.

The spot brings the story forward with dramatic motion graphics and an anthemic song—“White Flag” performed by Bishop Briggs—and then sets these elements against striking images of both Donald and the important figures of her time who got involved with the case, including the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

The People v The Klan premieres with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, April 11 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/PT on CNN.
