Charles Barkley will hone in on topics such as police and race relations, Muslims in America, immigration issues and Hollywood stereotyping in TNT’s upcoming docuseries American Race.
“Race is the most divisive issue in America,” Barkley says in the trailer.
Troubled by the way racism and other forms of discrimination have affected so many communities, Barkley has made it his personal mission not only to learn about varying perspectives but also to give a voice to those most impacted by discrimination, according to TNT. In each episode, Barkley finds his own preconceived notions examined and challenged.
“We’re going to start a dialogue,” Barkley says. “It’s not about black and white. It’s about everybody. We’re all in this thing together.”
American Race will air over two nights on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12, with two episodes each night at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
TNT will also offer a preview of the first episode on Sunday, May 7 at 11:30 p.m. after the network’s NBA Playoffs coverage.
All episodes will be available to subscribers via the TNT app on Monday, May 8.
