Living up to its upfront buzz, CBS’ Supergirl opened big on Monday night.

The show’s premiere averaged nearly 13 million viewers in Nielsen’s preliminary live plus same day ratings and a 3.2 rating/10 share among primetime’s key demographic of adults 18-49, making it the most-watched new-series premiere this season and the highest rated, just edging out NBC’s Blindspot if the early numbers hold or grow. Both shows are executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

When the live plus seven day ratings come in, the show’s debut is expected to increase by 46% among viewers to nearly 19 million and 65% among adults 18-49 to a 5.3.

Supergirl also was CBS.com’s most trafficked premiere this season, and was the most social drama on Monday night, according to Nielsen Social.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart and is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter are executive producers.
