CBS took advantage of the giant audience (numbers coming tomorrow) that tuned into Super Bowl 50, called by some on social media — largely Broncos’ fans — the “best Super Bowl ever” and by others — largely Panthers, Patriots, Steelers and all other NFL fans — the “worst Super Bowl ever.”

Regardless, CBS took the opportunity to set the record straight on the fate of The Good Wife, which will air its final nine episodes in upcoming months and end with a series finale on Sunday, May 9, at 9 p.m. Rumors had been circulating that the critically acclaimed but always less-than-high-rated drama would be ending its run after seven seasons.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” said Glenn Geller, president, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, president, CBS Television Studios in a joint statement issued immediately after the promo aired during the game. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game.”

The Good Wife—which has won several Emmys throughout its run, including best actress and best supporting actress—stars Julianna Margulies and was created and executive produced by husband-and-wife team Robert and Michelle King.

CBS also promoted two of its key services during the big game: Showtime and CBS All Access. The promos are below:
