Michael Ouweleen is the new CMO for the Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang portfolio at Turner, the company announced Thursday.
Ouweleen, who had been SVP and executive creative director at Cartoon Network’s Creative Group, will be based in Atlanta and report to portfolio president and GM Christina Miller.
The 17-year Turner veteran will oversee creative direction and strategy for marketing, on-air, trade and sponsorship partnerships that support the three networks, including digital, gaming, ad sales and consumer products.
“Michael has that strong combination of creative vision and strategic thinking,” said Miller. “He has a deep knowledge of our brands, and with him now leading the efforts for both the marketing and creative teams there is an opportunity for us to have a more holistic and creative approach to our marketing.”
In his previous role, Ouweleen directed the development of creative assets for CN’s off-channel efforts, including print, show launch kits, sales materials, PR assets, premiums, and event environments. He also supervised all on-air promos, program franchise packaging and sponsored promotion for CN and Boomerang.

Emanuele Madeddu was elevated to SVP of marketing and creative for NGCI’s global marketing group.
Based in Washington, DC, Madeddu directs the marketing strategy, creative toolkits, in-person activations and digital marketing programs for NGC, Nat Geo Wild, and Nat Geo People. He will add Nat Geo Play, the company’s multi-platform app, and other non-linear offerings to his portfolio.
Madeddu spearheaded the campaigns for The ‘80s, The ‘90s, as well as the “Entertain Your Brain” campaign. He joined NGCI in 2008.

-Paramount Channel Latin America
Carlos Penzini was promoted to brand manager of the soon-to-launch Paramount Channel Latin America, Viacom International Media Networks The Americas announced Thursday.
Penzini will be responsible for the content and brand management of the network, which will showcase Paramount’s library of films.
He will be based in Miami, and report to VIMN The Americas COO and interim Managing Director Pierluigi Gazzolo.
Penzini was previously SVP of strategy and business development at VIMN The Americas, helping with numerous channel launches in the region, including Comedy Central, as well as the rebranding of Tr3s in the U.S.
-Entertainment Studios, Inc
Former Sony marketing SVP, JD Black, is joining Entertainment Studios, Inc, as SVP of global digital marketing.
He will oversee digital marketing, creative strategy, social media, promotions, research, analytics, email marketing and CRM for the entire Entertainment Studios portfolio as it expands its digital footprint.
At Sony, Black worked on digital campaigns and strategy across film, television and home entertainment.
