National Geographic Channels CEO Courteney Monroe is still building her marketing team, hiring TV veteran Brenda Freeman to lead the team as CMO.
Previously the global head of television marketing for DreamWorks Animation, Freeman will take over the role left open by Monroe when she took over as CEO at Nat Geo, overseeing multiplatform marketing of National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD in the U.S.
This includes branding, on-air and off-air campaigns, digital content, social media campaigns and any creative that touches either channel. Freeman has also served as CMO at Turner Broadcasting’s Young Adult and Kids Media division.
“Brenda’s energy, insight and vast experience in entertainment marketing make her a great fit as we continue to elevate the National Geographic Channels within the industry and in the minds of consumers,” Monroe said in a statement. “With her talents, we have another great addition to our senior team poised to take us to the next level.”
Note: Courteney Monroe sits on the board of PromaxBDA, publisher of Brief.
