Soundtracks have always been an effective way to engage fans with uniquely atmospheric content that extends beyond the screen. Now, a new partnership between Bravo Media and Spotify is paving a road down which that content can travel even farther.
In advance of November premieres such as “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “Vanderpump Rules” and “Thicker Than Water,” Bravo has become the first TV network to create custom Spotify playlists curated around specific shows. The flexibility of Spotify’s platform makes playlists dynamic and endlessly updatable, and Bravo intends to tweak each one from week to week with new tracks reflecting, according to the network, the most recent episode’s “break ups, make ups and celebrations.”
The playlists, accessed through Bravo’s Spotify profile, are available through the music service’s mobile and desktop apps, with links embedded on their respective shows’ pages at BravoTV.com. During the premieres for each show, on-air snipes will further direct fans to the playlists, and both Bravo and Spotify will dialog with fans over Twitter with additional links.
At the time of this writing, Bravo’s Spotify profile features four show-related playlists sporting five tracks each. If the lists are indeed reflections of the tone and story developments for the upcoming premieres, we are most intrigued by the one for “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” which implies anything could happen this season by transitioning from Weezer’s “Beverly Hills” to the theme song for “The Jeffersons” to Lorde’s “Royals.”
