Los Angeles-based agency Picturemill created the main title sequence for Warner Bros. Pictures’ latest superhero film, Blue Beetle, which opened in theaters across the country over the weekend.
In the sequence, which is embedded in the film’s prologue, the alien biotechnology begins its long journey to Earth from far out in the galaxy during another, earlier age. It darts past planets and through asteroid fields before crashing into Central America, like a glowing blue meteor. Through the ages, the Blue Beetle becomes a myth among ancient peoples before fading out of knowledge. In the film, Blue Beetle rises again and chooses teen-aged boy Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) to wield its power by attaching itself to him as a suit of armor.
Picturemill’s main titles include nods to the comic-book stories on which the film is based.
