BET unveiled seven new scripted projects — five new series, a made-for-TV movie and a mini-series — at its annual presentation for advertisers in New York on Wednesday. The network also ordered four unscripted series.

As for its veteran series, BET renewed Being Mary Jane, starring Gabrielle Union, for a fourth season, and Kevin Hart’s The Real Husbands of Hollywood. The network also will return with its tentpole events, including the BET Awards, the BET Experience at L.A. Live presented by Coca-Cola, the BET Hip Hop Awards, and Black Girls Rock!, celebrating the achievements of black women.

BET’s sister network, Centric, announced two new series of its own: Queen Bee, a reality-competition series in which real-life entrepreneurs are challenged to take their businesses to the next level, and Monica Morton, an investigator and crisis manager who’s sort of a real-life Olivia Pope.

BET also is focusing on the digital experience it’s offering consumers. Next Wednesday, the brand will relaunch its digital products — including BET.com and the new BET Now app — across desktop computers, mobile and tablet platforms.

“Our brand has always been a trendsetter, shaping the culture and leading the conversation,” says Louis Carr, president of media sales, BET Networks in a statement. “Not only is our content more authentic, powerful and relevant, but now it’s more accessible across more channels and platforms than ever before.”

Along those lines, BET announced expanded partnerships with instant video chat platform Snapchat and celebrity social app WhoSay.

BET will continue to work with Snapchat around its biggest annual event, the BET Awards, curating the BET Experience Snapchat Live Story around the entire weekend. With WhoSay, BET is launching the BET AA-Fluencers, which will offer a branded feed filled with the most influential African-American celebrities.

“We have developed a deep and authentic relationship with our audience over the last 36 years, and it is that genuine connection that has allowed BET to expand into a global multiplatform brand,” said Debra Lee, chairman and CEO, BET Networks. “With BET being more accessible across more platforms, we are creating a powerful 360-degree experience for our audience to interact with the BET brand like never before.”

BET’s new scripted series are:

—Tales: Executive Producer Irv Gotti Lorenzo’s hour-long anthology series that will weave hip-hop into 3-act narratives and is a collaboration with Jay-Z’s Tidal;

The Yard: starring Anika Noni Rose as the newly-elected president of Georgia A&M, a fictional historically black college;

—Benched: a one-hour scripted dramedy about a reluctant appointed judge who’s forced into dealing with the injustices of the criminal justice system;

—Rebel: co-written, executive produced and directed by John Singleton — a timely drama about a female African-American police officer; and

—Comedy Get Down: a scripted comedy series about what really happens behind the scenes of a comedy tour featuring George Lopez, DL Hugely, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy.

The movies are:

New Edition: The Movie: a three-part biopic that follows the boy band from kids in Boston to global megastardom. Starring Empire’s Bryshere Gray, Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Keith Powers, Algee Smith and Woody McClain, and written by Abdul Williams, directed by Chris Robinson and executive produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment

Madiba: Starring Laurence Fishburne as Nelson Mandela, who with the leaders of the African National Congress fought to end apartheid in South Africa. Executive produced and directed by Kevin Hooks.
