The Watch, starring Game of Thrones’ Richard Dormer as captain of the group of misfits known as The City Watch, debuts with two episodes on BBC America on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. The series’ first episode also will exclusively premiere on new premium streaming service AMC+ on Dec. 31.

The fantastical series follows the group as they work to upset a plot that would resurrect a great dragon and end life as everyone in their world knows it.

The series, inspired by Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels, comes from lead writer and executive producer Simon Allen. Besides Captain of the City Watch Sam Vimes (Dormer), the series also stars Lara Rossi as Lady Sybil Ramkin, Adam Hugill as Carrot, Marama Corlett as Angua, Jo Eaton-Kent as Cheery and Wendell Pierce as Death.

The Watch is a BBC America original series executive produced by Hilary Salmon (Luther), Ben Donald (The Mallorca Files) and Richard Stokes for BBC Studios, Rob Wilkins (Good Omens) for Narrativia, Simon Allen and Craig Viveiros (The War of the Worlds). Johann Knobel (Shameless) is series producer of The Watch, and Simon Rogers (Doctor Foster) is production designer. BBC Studios is handling distribution internationally.
