“Almost Royal” is BBC America’s first foray into original scripted comedies, and the network is spanning both cultures for one of the first looks at the new series. The show, set to premiere after “Orphan Black’s” season finale June 21, follows aristocratic brother and sister duo George and Poppy Carlton on a cross-country road trip.
The mockumentary follows them on their first visit to America and in its first tease, George and Poppy try to learn more about the American tradition of baseball (and question the baseball tradition of spitting so much).
Also coming this summer, “Intruders” stars Mira Sorvino in a paranormal story set in the Pacific Northwest. Based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel “The Intruders,” the show centers on a secret society of people trying to achieve immortality. In the first look below, Sorvino’s character Amy appears out of it until she straightens and clearly states: “We will be all right,” she says. “Because in the beginning there was death.”
