Beginning Nov.2, BBC America will transform every Saturday into a new, 24-hour destination of wildlife and wonder.

Dubbed “Wonderstruck,” the programming block aims to “awaken a sense of awe and inspiration while connecting viewers to something bigger than themselves,” BBC America said in a statement.

It follows research from a commissioned study, which revealed that these elements are essential to reducing stress, anxiety and mental fatigue while heightening concentration, productivity and connection to the planet.

“The study inspired us to create an entire destination dedicated to this universal and stunning content,” Courtney Thomasma, executive director of BBC America, said in a statement. “...Our hope is that this new Saturday ritual will offer relief from the daily grind and serve as a much-needed antidote to the chaos of the modern world.”

Wonderstruck will launch on Nov. 2 with a special presentation of Seven Worlds, One Planet, the wildlife docuseries featuring narrator Sir David Attenborough. Announced during Glastonbury Festival in July, the series will reveal how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there. The entire season will premiere as a television event in early 2020.

Blue Planet Now, the follow-up to Blue Planet II, will arrive on Nov. 9. The series, hosted by Chris Packham, Liz Bonnin and Steve Backshall, explores the overall health of the oceans and marine life around the globe.

“It’s fascinating that the benefits of watching nature content mirror those you get from actually being in nature: the anxiety reduction, the feelings of inspiration, awe, and connectedness,” Susan Kresnica, cultural anthropologist and pioneer of the study, said in a statement. “You don’t have to have physical access to the most beautiful places on Earth to feel the effects. There is something incredibly powerful in the way TV can produce those same feelings.”

Additional programming is expected to be announced soon; however, until then, viewers can seek awe and inspiration when Wonderstruck launches next month.
