Fans will get to see much more of cute-as-a-button droid BB-8 in Disney Channel’s The Force Awakens prequel, Star Wars Resistance.

The series will make its one-hour debut on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and subsequently air on Disney XD. Once it rolls out in the U.S., it will premiere on Disney Channels Worldwide.

The show follows young Resistance pilot Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono (voiced by Days of Our Lives’ Christopher Sean) after he’s recruited by Poe (Oscar Isaac voicing the role he originated) to spy on the Empire’s Colossus, a massive aircraft re-fueling platform on an outer rim water planet. While undercover, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s old friend Jarek Yeager (Legion’s Scott Lawrence). BB-8 keeps him company and secretly helps him on his mission. Yeager runs a starship repair shop staffed by Tam (Eastenders’ Suzie McGrath), Neeku (Silicon Valley’s Josh Brener) and their droid Bucket.

Other voice talent includes Elena of Avalor’s Myrna Velasco as Torra Doza, Scrubs’ Donald Faison as Hype Fazon, and Community’s Jim Rash and Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan as Flix and Orka. Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie also appears as Captain Phasma and Rachel Butera voices General Leia Organa.

Stars Wars Resistance is created by Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni, who also worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The series is executive produced by Athena Portillo, Just Ridge and Brandon Auman. Amy Beth Christenson is art director.
