Berlin-based artist and motion designer Oliver Latta, who goes by the moniker Extraweg, won the Emmy at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards for designing the main title sequence for Ben Stiller’s twisty workplace drama, Severance, on Apple TV Plus.
In the show, Mark, played by Adam Scott, leads a team of office drones who have had their memories of their personal lives severed from their work lives. Besides Scott (Parks and Rec), the series also stars Patricia Arquette (Escape from Dannemora), Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, John Tuturro and Christopher Walken.
Theodore Shapiro also was nominated for composing the sequence’s music, but that award went to HBO’s The White Lotus and composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer.
Extraweg beat out both main-title powerhouses Imaginary Forces and Elastic, with Imaginary Forces nominated four times in this category and Elastic two. Extraweg held the only other nomination.
Other opening sequences to be nominated were Hulu’s Candy, Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop, Apple TV Plus’ Foundation, Apple TV Plus’ Lisey’s Story, Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and Apple TV Plus’ Pachinko.
