Ahead of its April 3 premiere, Apple TV+ has given Home Before Dark an early season-two renewal, the streamer announced during its first appearance at TCA in Pasadena, Calif. on Sunday.

Inspired by the real-life reporting of nine-year-old investigative journalist Hilde Lysiak, Home Before Dark follows a young girl as she unearths “a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father, tried hard to bury.” Despite its mysterious tone, creators say the series aims to shed light on Hilde’s accomplishments while creating a sense of connection for families.

“We just wanted to make something we’d never seen before, a sophisticated drama with a young protagonist at its core,” executive producer Dana Fox said during the series’ panel. “We wanted to make something parents watch first… they will decide with their kids… but we’re really hopeful that this will be a shared experience.”

Home Before Dark joins the list of recently renewed Apple originals, including Dickinson, See, Little America, Servant, For All Mankind and most recently, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet. Apple announced the early renewal for Rob McElhenney’s live-action comedy on Sunday.

In other TCA news, Apple has announced the release date for its first project with Steven Spielberg. Amazing Stories, the reimagining of Spielberg’s anthology series from the ‘80s, will premiere its first five episodes March 6.
