FX released a new promo for FX’s Middle East political drama Tyrant that shows a potential assassination, and sets the stage for tons of tension and drama in season three.

“One shot forever changed the fate of a nation,” FX says. “See who rises to power this summer.”

Following the death of Nina on The Americans, Annet Mahendru will also join the cast as Nafisa Al-Qadi, the wife of Ma’an’s spiritual and political leader, Sheik A-Qad. She will be involved in quite a few discussions, and takes a stricter approach than her husband.

Chris Noth will also join the show as U.S. General William Cogswell, who returns to Abbudin when Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner) assumes the provisional presidency.

Tyrant is the story of an unassuming American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. Al-Fayeed, the youngest son of a war-torn country’s controversial dictator, returns to his homeland after a self-imposed 20-year exile in America for his nephew’s wedding.

When his father dies unexpectedly, Barry is forced back into the treacherous familial and national politics of his youth, reluctantly assuming the role of confidante and counselor to his temperamental brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom), Abbudin’s new president. While his American wife and kids struggle to understand his reasons for staying, Barry has become a powerful force within the government, fueled by visions of bringing humanitarian freedoms to his homeland.
