Last year, ABC created a rousing spot featuring Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” for American Idol that aired during an Oscars that included Queen, with frontman Adam Lambert, performing as well as Rami Malek winning a best-actor Oscar for his starring role as Freddie Mercury in Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

That worked so well that this year, ABC decided to do it again. This time, American Idol paid tribute to Sir Elton John, recreating a scene from Almost Famous in which the quarreling band reunites by singing John’s classic, Tiny Dancer, while on their tour bus. John and his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin, won the Oscar for best original song for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” which the pair wrote for Elton John biopic Rocketman.
