Looks like Fox and “American Idol” are ready for kickoff.
The network is launching a new marketing blitz aimed at luring football fans to the 13th season of the granddaddy of reality singing competitions, AdWeek reported Monday.
Spots that feature the three “Idol” judges—Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban—already appeared during last Sunday’s NFC Wild Card game, which drew 47.1 million viewers to the network.
AdWeek reported that Fox is planning to feature Idol promos during its Super Bowl coverage, although it’s not clear how many will run. Last time Fox aired the Super Bowl in 2011, it ran two in-game spots, and AdWeek reported that they were expected to place more emphasis on the show this time around.
Fox is also looking at strategic cable buys and mobile ads to promote the new season, along with the previously announced 20-city sneak peak event ahead of the broadcast premiere.

Brief Take: In the wake of dismal ratings for “The X Factor,” Fox is banking on the huge Super Bowl audience to deliver big numbers for its flagship singing competition.
