AMC’s monster hit The Walking Dead took its final victory lap around San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H on Friday, revealing a trailer for the final spate of episodes for the mother series. The three-minute spot that was first shown at the fan fest also walks viewers back through some of the series’ most iconic moments.
Of course, while The Walking Dead is finally hanging up its weapons after 11 seasons and 12 years, its many spin-off series carry on, including Tales of the Walking Dead and a coming six-episode limited series starring and executive produced by original series stars Andrew Lincoln and Danai Guirrera. Lincoln had been slated to star in three spin-off movies after his exit from the main series, but that decision has evolved.
A trailer for upcoming anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, starring Terry Crews and Walking Dead vet Samantha Morton, also was shown in Hall H on Friday. Tales of the Walking Dead premieres August 14 on AMC and AMC Plus.
Saturday’s Hall H panel included The Walking Dead universe’s chief content officer Scott M. Gimple; executive producer and showrunner Angela Kang; and executive producer, director and special effects makeup supervisor Greg Nicotero. Cast included on the panel were Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Ross Marquand, Seth Gilliam, Lauren Ridloff, Cailey Fleming and Michael James Shaw.
The Walking Dead’s final eight-episode run will debut Sunday, October 2.
