Legendary Beatle John Lennon would have turned 75 this year, so AMC and just a few all-star friends are honoring him with a big concert event.
AMC and Blackbird Presents are hosting Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert, with a taping at the Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5 and an airing to follow Saturday, Dec. 19 on AMC.
“We are proud to be associated with this special event, and to bring Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert to AMC viewers,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development at AMC and SundanceTV. “We are continuing to explore unique opportunities in non-fiction programming and special events that can live alongside our original productions and movies, and we know this remarkable event will do just that and attract Lennon fans and music lovers of all ages.”
The concert, meant to honor the music icon, will feature performances from Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, The Killers’ Brandon Flowers, Peter Frampton, Kris Kristofferson, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Willie Nelson, The Roots, Steven Tyler and more.
Tickets go on sale for the Dec. 5 event on Nov. 17. A portion of proceeds from Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert are donated to poverty-fighting charity Robin Hood.
