AMC is continuing its after-show trend with the debut of Talking Preacher to follow the series premiere and finale of dark comedy Preacher.
The network revealed the news on Monday’s episode of Talking Dead. Comic Chris Hardwick (Talking Dead, Talking Saul) will host the hour-long show, which will feature series star Dominic Cooper, and executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin as guests.
“It’s very clear that Chris Hardwick knows how to lead and navigate a conversation about hordes of zombies on Talking Dead and shifty lawyers on Talking Saul, so we can’t wait to see how he’ll handle this new batch of insanely, out-of-this-world characters from Preacher,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, in a statement. “It’s amazing to see Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic creation come to life and I know that Chris and our special guests on Talking Preacher will have a great time engaging fans in a lively discussion around this twisted and unpredictable new series.”
On Monday, the network also revealed a new trailer for Preacher, with work by Stun Creative (see credits below).
The comic-book adaption follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Cooper) who is possessed by Genesis, a demon and angel spawn that angels DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef) and Fiore (Derek Wilson) are sent to Earth to retrieve. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) come together and are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from heaven, hell and everywhere in between.
