In what was its first eligible year, Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel dominated at the 70th annual primetime Emmy Awards with five wins: two for best comedy series—making it the first streaming show to claim that title—along iwth two for showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino for writing and directing categories, one for Rachel Bosnahan for lead actor, and one for Alex Borstein for supporting actor.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also scored three Creative Arts Emmys last weekend, coming in just behind Saturday Night Live and HBO’s Game of Thrones, which tied for the top spot of nine wins.

The comedy series category had been led by HBO’s Veep for the past three years, but the show wasn’t eligible this year. Maisel stepped in to join a short list of winners since 2007 that includes, in addition to Veep, just NBC’s 30 Rock and ABC’s Modern Family since 2007.

Overall Amazon tied CNN for eight Emmys, with HBO and Netflix coming out ahead with 23 each, followed by NBC with 16 and FX with 12.

Game of Thrones, which wasn’t eligible last year due to the timing between seasons, made a strong comeback. Peter Dinklage was recognized for best supporting actor and the show scoring a big win for best drama—stealing last year’s title from Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which was shut out of the awards despite winning three Creative Arts Emmys the weekend before.

FX’s Atlanta from Donald Glover also went unrecognized for major wins.

Yet HBO’s Barry scored some wins with Bill Hader for lead actor, and Henry Winkler for supporting actor—making it the only comedy series aside from Maisel to take home an award. And the network’s Last Week Tonight took home a win for variety talk series.

NBC’s Saturday Night Live won for best variety sketch series—with the 44-season-long show racking up a record number of awards over the years.

Meanwhile, three awards went to FX’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story for best limited series, Darren Criss for lead actor, and Ryan Murphy for directing a limited series.
