Adweek reports today that Amazon will introduce its own proprietary TV set-top box this fall. The TV hardware market is overcrowded already, but Amazon may have a leg up due to its ability to keep the device’s price low, as it has done with the Kindle. As with the Kindle, such a move would enable Amazon to expand its robust content creation business to a new wave of streaming customer who want to invest in a set-top box.
