It looks like most of Amazon originals are officially a go. “Alpha House” has been renewed for a second season, and Amazon furthers its push to evolve from online retailer to original content distributor with its pickup of four new primetime pilots and two kids’ series.

Washington political comedy “Alpha House,” starring John Goodman, got picked up for a second season today amidst Amazon’s announcements. The series was among Amazon’s first original pilots and launched last year.

Four of Amazon’s five primetime series also earned season pickups, including “Bosch,” “The After,” “Mozart in the Jungle” and “Transparent.” The fifth, Ice Cube and Michael Strahan’s “The Rebels,” is currently on hold and no word yet on comedy series “Betas.”

New series for Amazon are: Los Angeles detective series “Bosch,” based on Michael Connelly’s book series; “The After,” from the creator of “The X-Files;” historical comedy “Mozart in the Jungle” and Jeffrey Tambor-starrer “Transparent.” Kids’ pilots “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life On Normal Street” and “Wishenpoof!” also were ordered to series at Amazon, joining the three series that were previously ordered: “Creative Galaxy,” “Tumble Leaf” and “Annedroids,” all debuting this summer.

Brief Take: Especially with Amazon Prime Instant Video’s recent price increase, the service will need to use these new series as a way to hook customers and lure in new subscribers to its streaming service.
