Based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling romance novels, Netflix’s delicious-looking upcoming period drama Bridgerton seems like the perfect trifle to get us through our holidays at home.

From Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen, the series follows the Bridgerton family as they seek to find love and marriage and make their way in upper-crust British society. The first Bridgerton to debut is eldest daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor). Her prospects look bright until her older brother starts getting involved and Daphne suddenly finds herself the object of the high-society scandal sheet penned by the mysterious Lady Whistledown (voiced by the peerless Julie Andrews).

When the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) appears on the scene, things start looking up for Daphne as the pair agree to play a couple in love. Soon, however, the play falls apart but who is playing whom?

Besides Dynevor, Page and Andrews, the series also stars Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Bessie Carter and Harriet Cains.

The series is directed by Julie Ann Robinson, Sheree Folkson, Tom Verica and Alrick Riley, and executive produced by Van Dusen, Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

Bridgerton premieres on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, on Netflix.
