Continuing its aggressive expansion even though broadcasters continue to resist, Aereo will expand its over-the-air television streaming service into Dallas, Houston and Miami in September.
Recently, the US Court of Appeals denied broadcasters’ demands that Aereo pay retransmission fees for the local station TV signals it broadcasts over the Internet. The company pushes free, over-the-air television content to mobile devices, browsers or Roku boxes, and also saves programs for later viewing through its cloud-based DVR service.
Aereo will be available in Miami Sept. 2, Houston Sept. 16, and Dallas Sept. 23. Broadcasters are expected to take their case against Aereo to the Supreme Court.
