Adam Driver, who served in the U.s. Marine Corps, knows what it was like to be injured just before his unit was deployed to Iraq. He broke his sternum in a mountain biking accident and was medically discharged.

“I felt so guilty that I didn’t get to finish my service,” he told Hayley Grace Williams’ father—who was also injured in a training exercise right before Desert Storm—during his surprise visit to the girl’s house to hand her a scholarship for nursing school.

The short Budweiser documentary was created in partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships for the children and spouses of fallen and disabled service members.

In May, Budweiser raised $1 million for the foundation from the sale of every Budweiser America can and bottle and has raised about $12 million for the nonprofit since 2011.

The spot deputed just in time for the Fourth of July.

“I feel very privileged,” Driver said in a statement, “to be a part of the work that Folds of Honor and Budweiser are doing in their support of our military community and highlighting the importance of the family surrounding them.”
