Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder stars Kerry Washington and Viola Davis revealed on Instagram on Thursday that their two popular TGIT shows on ABC would air special crossover episodes later this year.

“Hey Ms @violadavis ❤️ check it out. This spot look familiar?! Where are you?” Washington posted on Instagram, featuring a picture of herself as Olivia Pope on the set of Davis’ How to Get Away With Murder.

Likewise, Davis posted “Hey @KerryWashington, guess where I am?!” featuring Davis, as Annalise Keating, leaning against a likeness of the President’s desk in the White House’s famed Oval Office.

Later Thursday, HTGAWM executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Pete Nowalk confirmed the posts and that the episodes were in production, although when they will air has not been confirmed. Rhimes also tweeted out the news (and note that even the scriptwriters are extremely excited about this, with four exclamation points after the Annalise Keating reveal).

The Scandal crossover episode was written by Raamla Mohaed and directed by show star Tony Goldwyn, while the HTGAWM episode was written by Morenike Balogun and Sarah L. Thompson and directed by Zetna Fuentes.

Both shows as well as Grey’s Anatomy return to ABC with new episodes on Thursday, Jan. 18. Scandal is in its seventh and final season, while HTGAWM is in its fourth. And Grey’s Anatomy, which shows no signs of slowing down, is in its 14th season.
